It’s now less than two months until I fly to Orlando and visit Walt Disney World for the first time, and so I thought it was about time I shared with you my bucket lists that I have created for each of the four Disney parks.
Magic Kingdom will be my 3rd Disney castle park (I’ve previously visited Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disneyland). I’m excited to get on some of the original versions of classic Disney rides and some of the more unique attractions that you won’t find anywhere else around the world.
Rides
TRON Lightcycle / Run
The number one ride on my Magic Kingdom bucket list (and my whole Disney World bucket list to be honest) is TRON Lightcycle / Run.
I remember seeing photos and videos of the first version of this rollercoaster which opened at Shanghai Disneyland back in 2016 and I completely fell in love with the concept. And while I would love to visit the Shanghai park someday, I am very happy that there is a version of this ride in Magic Kingdom.
Space Mountain
I’m a big fan of the Space Mountain rides, with Hyperspace Mountain in Disneyland Paris being my favourite rollercoaster of all time, so of course I’m looking forward to riding the original version for the first time.
I know that it’s the only version where you sit one behind the other, and I know there are two tracks within the mountain itself (does that count as two coaster credits?!), but other than that, I’m intrigued to see how it varies to the other versions around the world.
Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
While the PeopleMover doesn’t exactly look like the most thrilling of rides, I am excited to ride this classic attraction as it goes inside of the Space Mountain building.
And you never know, I might be lucky enough to be riding the PeopleMover when Space Mountain is down the the lights are on. Isn’t that every theme park enthusiasts dream?!
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Another coaster on my Magic Kingdom bucket list is Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. While I’m aware that this rollercoaster is pretty tame and isn’t very long, the theming looks great and I’m looking forward to experiencing it.
The Barnstormer
While The Barnstormer doesn’t look like a particularly special ride, it is a rollercoaster and I want to get the coaster credit!
Jungle Cruise
The only other version of Jungle Cruise I have been on is the one in Tokyo Disneyland. And while I enjoyed the ride, I feel like I didn’t get the full experience because of the language barrier. A huge part of this ride is the commentary from the skippers, and as I don’t speak Japanese, I had no idea what everyone else was laughing at!
So, I’d love to ride Jungle Cruise with an English speaking skipper so I can laugh at the terrible dad jokes!
Pirates of the Caribbean
Pirates of the Caribbean is one of my favourite rides, and I’d happily ride it all day if I could. I love the smell, the music and all the little details that make this ride so special.
The one in Disneyland Paris is my favourite version that I have been on so far, but I’m looking forward to seeing what the Magic Kingdom version has to offer.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
I’m putting this one on my bucket list but unfortunately I won’t be checking it off on this trip as it’s going to be closed when I visit. It’s closing in January 2025 and won’t reopen again until 2026.
Honestly, I think I’m destined to never ride a version of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad outside of Disneyland Paris as the Tokyo Disneyland version was also closed when I visited earlier this year!
Food & Drink
We have purchased the quick service dinning plan that includes two quick service meals per day and one snack per day, so you bet I’ve been doing a lot of research about the food and drink available in each park.
Here are a few of the snacks and meals I’m looking forward to trying in Magic Kingdom:
- Cinnamon roll at Gaston’s Tavern
- Funnel cake
- Dole whip
- Hot dog from Casey’s Corner (I love the ones in Paris)
- Stuffed pretzel
- Cheeseburger spring rolls
- Peanut butter cookie pie
Other
It’s not all about rides and food! Here are a few other activities I’m hoping to do while I’m visiting the Magic Kingdom
- Take a photo with Cinderella’s Castle.
- Take the boats and the monorail into Magic Kingdom.
- Watch Happily Ever After (even though I’m not a big show or parades kind of person!)
- Pick up a 1st visit pin badge
- Watch the Flag Retreat
Have you visited Magic Kingdom before? Do you have any recommendations for me?
