Well, March is quite a few months away, and I need something to satisfying my theme park cravings in the meantime. So I’ve just booked a little trip to Alton Towers!
Despite it being one of the closest theme parks to where I live, I haven’t been to Alton Towers since I was 3 years old!
I’m so excited to ride some of the greatest rollercoasters in the UK and to finally ride a Bolliger & Mabillard rollercoaster because, unbelievably, I’ve never rode one before!
So, without further ago, here are the rides on my Alton Towers bucket list…
Update: Want to see how I’d rank all of Alton Towers’ rollercoasters? Find out in this post.
Nemesis Reborn
The rollercoaster I think I’m most excited to ride at Alton Towers is Nemesis Reborn.
The original Nemesis closed in 2022 to undergo a full track replacement and reopened earlier this year as Nemesis Reborn. The new track looks amazing and I hope it makes for a smooth ride, but I have heard that it’s a pretty intense ride overall. I cannot wait to experience it for myself!
As I say, I’ve never rode a Bolliger & Mabillard rollercoaster before and I am keen to make Nemesis my first.
Galactica
Speaking of B&M rollercoasters, the next coaster I’m looking forward to getting on is Galatica.
I remember seeing a ride photo of my brother on Galactica, back when it was called Air and being absolutely mindblown by the idea of a flying coaster.
This will be my first time riding a flying coaster and I’m looking forward to seeing what it feels like to fly! I have a feeling I’m going to love it!
Wicker Man
Next up is Alton Towers’ newest coaster, Wicker Man.
I can’t remember is I’ve actually even been on a wooden coaster (I am very much a born again rollercoaster enthusiast) so this could be another first for me.
I watched the documentary on Channel 4 called Inside Alton Towers that covered the development of Wicker Man and I love seeing how everything came together to create this unique attraction. I’ve wanted to ride it ever since.
Oblivion
I remember seeing all the adverts on TV when Oblivion first opened and thinking it that it looked absolutely terrifying. And to be honest, I still feel that way all these years later.
However, I really do want to experience this (not quite) vertical drop coaster (it’s 87.5° not 90°). I feel like a broken record at this point in the post but I’ve never been on a rollercoaster with a vertical drop before. It’s certainly going to be a day of firsts for me!
Th13teen
I know Th13teen gets a lot of hate as the original marketing for the ride hyped it up to be something it wasn’t, and may don’t think of it as a worthy replacement for the iconic Cockscrew, but it’s a coaster and I still want to ride it!
And once I’ve rode it I can share my own opinions on it!
Rita
Another ride that doesn’t get a lot of love from coaster enthusiasts is Rita.
I know that it’s a very short ride and it doesn’t really do anything exciting after the initial launch, but I am a huge fan of rollercoasters that feature a launch (Hyperspace Mountain and Avengers Assemble: Flight Force in Disneyland Paris are two of my favourites!). It just love feeling the force of a launch!
So as long as Rita doesn’t have a huge wait time on the day I visit, I’ll definitely be giving it a ride.
Have you been to Alton Towers before? What’s your favourite ride in the park?
