The theme park I’m most looking forward to visiting on my upcoming trip to Orlando is Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
In fact, one of the reasons we decided to stay at Caribbean Beach Resort is because you can easily get the Skyliner from there to Hollywood Studios. I have a feeling it will be the park I spend the most time in during my two week visit.
I know for a long time that Hollywood Studios wasn’t a favourite park for many Disney parks fans, but I think the recent additions of Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land have completely transformed this park. And I think it’s only going to get better with the addition of the Monsters, Inc. Land coming in the near future.
So, without further ado, here’s what I’m hoping to ride, eat, drink and experience during my first visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Rides
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
The ride I am most looking forward to riding in Hollywood Studios is Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
I love a good simulator ride, but I have never been on a simulator that is as interactive as Smugglers Run. Here’s hoping I land myself a pilot role and get to make the jump into hyperspace!
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
I watched POVs of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride when it first opened, but I haven’t let my partner watch any. He’s a huge Star Wars fan and I think he’s going to be mind blown by this ride!
But they say the POVs don’t do this ride this justice, so I can’t wait to experience it for myself!
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
As I mentioned before, I love simulator rides, and Star Tours has always been one of my favourites. I’ve rode the versions in Paris and Tokyo many times (including back to back re-rides on a wet day in Tokyo Disneyland!), and although I know it’s the same ride in Hollywood Studios, I’m excited to get back on this Disney classic.
Slinky Dog Dash
While I do love simulators, my favourite kind of rides are rollercoasters and so I’m naturally I’m excited to ride both of the coasters in Hollywood Studios.
The theming of Slinky Dog Dash is so fun and adorable. And while this rollercoaster might be a family coaster, it looks kind of intense in places. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see if it actually is!
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Unfortunately, I never rode Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster when it was open in the Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris, I have been on the rethemed version, Avengers Assemble: Flight Force. And while I thoroughly enjoyed the ride experience, I just feel like it’s going to be 100% better with more to look at and some Aerosmith blasting out.
This will also probably be my last chance to ride this version of Rock ‘n’ Roller before it gets the Muppet treatment. I can’t decided if that’s the best or worst retheme idea ever, but we will wait and see!
Toy Story Mania
When I visited Tokyo Disneysea last year I rode Toy Story Mania for the first time, and my partner and I loved it! We are super competitive on interactive rides like these and always have such a good laugh when we go on them.
My partner won the last time we played Toy Story Mania, so it’s time for a rematch!
Food & Drink
As I’ve mentioned before, we’re going to be on quick service dinning plan that includes two quick service meals per day and one snack per day. And I plan on making the most of it!
Here are a few of the snacks and meals I’m looking forward to trying in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Pizza from PizzeRizzo
- Ronto Wrap from Ronto Roasters
- Three-cheese grilled sandwich and Totchos from Woody’s Lunch Box
- Wookie cookie
- Jack Jack’s Num Num cookie
- Cocktails at Oga’s Cantina (I’ve got my reservation!)
- Blue milk
Other
Here are a few other activities I’m hoping to do while I’m visiting the Hollywood Studios:
- Watch Fantasmic (an evening show where you can sit down = a happy Holly!)
- Watch the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular
- Watch Muppet*Vision 3D (before it gets removed from the park)
- See or meet R2-D2 (I would die!)
- Get a photo with the Millennium Falcon
- Get a photo with Tower of Terror
Have you visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios before? Do you have any recommendations for me?
