Tokyo Disneyland Bucket List

Next month I’m heading to Japan for the first time, and I couldn’t go to Tokyo without paying a visit to Tokyo Disneyland!

Tokyo Disneyland will be my second Disney resort and third Disney park. My plan is to spend two days at the resort; one in the Disneyland park and one in DisneySea.

Would I like longer? Absolutely! It’s going to be a real struggle to fit in everything I want to. But this trip to Japan is not just about theme parks. My partner and I are celebrating our 30th birthdays and have so much else planned for the two weeks that we’re there for.

Plus, if I don’t manage to do everything I want to do, it’s an excuse to return in the future!

Before I head off on my trip I wanted to share my bucket list for Tokyo Disneyland, so without further ado, here are my hopes and dreams for my day in Disneyland.

Rides

Space Mountain

Hyperspace Mountain in Disneyland Paris is my favourite rollercoaster of all time so I am excited to get to ride a version of Space Mountain that is completely different to what I’ve experienced before.

When I booked this trip to Japan I wasn’t sure if Space Mountain would be open as I knew it would be closing some time in 2024, but fortunately it will still be open when I visit.

The Happy Ride with Baymax

Baymax is one of my favourite Disney characters and this ride is unique to Tokyo Disneyland (even though it’s a pretty much the same ride as Alien Swirling Saucers, just with different theming) so of course this ride is a must for me.

Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek!

I love a shooting gallery style ride and I can get very competitive with my partner on these rides so I’m hoping I get a chance to ride.

Gadget’s Go Coaster

Honestly, this ride doesn’t look anything special, but I want the coaster credit for riding it! If it doesn’t have a long queue then I’ll jump on, but it’s not a priority for me.

“It’s a small world”

You go to a Disney park and you ride “It’s a small world”. That’s the rules. I don’t make them.

Pooh’s Hunny Hunt

This indoor dark ride looks absolutely adorable and I would like to ride it if I get the chance. However, I hear it’s pretty popular so it might be a challenge to fit it into our plans.

Big Thunder Mountain

When I took my partner to Disneyland Paris last year he absolutely loved Big Thunder Mountain. I love it too so I hope we get to experience this version of the Disney classic.

I hear that it’s not as good as the one in Disneyland Paris but I’m excited to ride it none the less.

Food & Drink

Green alien mochi

I feel like the Toy Story green alien mochi are one of the most iconic snacks you can purchase at Tokyo Disneyland. And while I’m not the biggest fan of mochi, I do really want to try them.

Popcorn

Another thing Tokyo Disneyland is famous for is it’s popcorn, and in particular it’s wide variety of interesting flavours. Some popcorn flavours sound delicious, like salty caramel, berry cheesecake and milk chocolate, but then there’s also flavours like curry, garlic shrimp and soy sauce that I’m just not sure about!

Plus, Tokyo Disneyland sell the most creative popcorn buckets I have ever seen. I’m really hoping I have room for one in my suitcase.

Mickey churros

As with the popcorn, Tokyo Disneyland has some very interesting churro flavours to try. Personally, I’ve got my eyes set on the creme brulee style churros.

Pizza spring roll

You had me at pizza! We’re big pizza fans in this house and a pizza spring roll sounds like heaven to me.

I’m just hoping it’s vegetarian so my partner can I try one too!

Shows & Parades

It feels sacrilegious to say I’m not bothered about the shows and parades in Disney parks, but it’s true. I’d rather prioritise rides and food over anything else.

However, I do want to watch the Electrical Parade Dreamlights and I think it will be the perfect way to end our day at Tokyo Disneyland.

Shopping

Apart from riding rides and eating all the food, I’m most excited about visiting the shops in Tokyo Disneyland. The merchandise in the Tokyo parks is next level and I’m hoping to pick up some unique pieces.

One of my hobbies is journaling and I’ve got my eye on a few pieces of stationery, including a stamp set that comes in a box that looks like the mail box in Tokyo Disneyland.

I’ve also seen some limited edition Space Mountain merch to celebrate the final months of this version of the ride, including a pair of ears that look very cute!

Have you been to Tokyo Disneyland? Do you think I’ll tick off everything on my Tokyo Disneyland bucket list in just one day?!
